The Fifty-First Day: Weddick Family History, Devil's Dyke

Sunday, March 30th:

After spending the night at Bob & Jill's, we woke up and looked at more photos from the Weddick Family History. I love seeing the photos of Grandma Weddick in the 20s and 30s. She was so lovely, and Grandpa Weddick always looked so dapper. In the photo captions, I'll call them James and Eileen, so you know who I'm talking about. ANYBODY could be called grandma and grandpa.

James & Eileen. Look at those bathing suits!
The Weddick boys, watching a football game. I could be wrong, but I think that head in the middle left is Tony?
John Cothliff,  b 1856. Father of Sara Ellen Cothliff, who is the mother of Eileen,
who is the mother of Tony, who is the father of Chris. Got it?
And his wife, Harriet Mary Stewart, b 1857. Jill has the brooch she's wearing in this portrait, and it's lovely.
Margie (James's sister) is on the left, Eileen is on the right. I'm not sure who the gal in the middle is.
[Jill? Tony? Any ideas?]
Eileen is quite possibly the coolest lady. Ridin' around on a motorcycle in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
James and Eileen. They were married the day after Christmas, 1939.
After looking at the family photos, we packed up and Bob & Jill took us to see Devil's Dyke on the South Downs before we went to the train station. The views were breathtaking.

Just a boy and his dog.

We had a wonderful weekend in Brighton. So much love.

Cheers!

  1. Jill - Is that Edna (remember Colin's mum)? Friend of our mum - think she worked at the same place in London. Could be late 1930s.

  2. My Dad sent this to me--thought you would appreciate it about now! Photo project of London, then and now.
